Road Design Engineer

Competencies

Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in civil engineering with relevant experience.

5–7 years of relevant experience in Road and highway design within engineering consultancies or similar organizations.

Professional certifications in Civil 3D, highway design, or road safety are an advantage.

Preferred experience delivering Infrastructure Road projects in the UAE and/or KSA.

Starting to develop network of contacts.

Be an ambassador for the Company.

Develop geometric road designs including horizontal and vertical alignments, profiles and cross-sections.
Prepare detailed design drawings, technical design reports and engineering calculations for roads, junctions, roundabouts and grading works.
Generate and review surfaces, longitudinal sections, cross-sections and earthwork quantities using Autodesk Civil 3D.
Coordinate road designs with master planners and other multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated design solutions.
Support the preparation of traffic management plans, plot access layouts, parking designs and swept path analyses.
Ensure all designs comply with relevant local authority standards and international standards such as DM, RTA, ADM, Ashghal, MOT, AASHTO, MOMRA or equivalent.
Internal design QA/QC reviews and contribute to project documentation and approvals.
Assist in the preparation of BOQ, cost estimates and technical specifications.
Collaborate with BIM teams for consistency between design intent and drawing deliverables
Provide technical input during coordination meetings with clients and stakeholders.

Have an understanding of our Business plan, mission statement and key challenges.
Contribute to the development of company procedures by taking an active role in task groups.
Attend team meetings and play an active role in the development of procedures within your team.
Review and comment on company procedures using the feedback system.
Applying policies relating to health & safety, quality and training

Agree design philosophy/design fundamentals.
Review and comment on deliverables produced by Engineers & Technicians at key stages through a project.
Demonstrates all round technical competence.
Have knowledge of concept design, buildability, detailed design, construction techniques, procurement routes, risk assessment and claim assessment.
Have knowledge of analytical concepts.
Should be responsible for Quality Management (QA) for their team.
- Have knowledge of our delivery in CAD standards and 3D working.
Strong proficiency in Civil 3D including alignments, profiles, assemblies, corridors & grading.
Proficient in AutoCAD and Vehicle Tracking software for swept path analysis.
Familiarity with highway design software such as OpenRoads, MX Road, or equivalent.
Good understanding of Road design principles, utility coordination and ROW planning.
Proven ability to prepare detailed drawings, report and technical deliverables as per the standards.
Sound knowledge of applicable road design standards and guidelines in UAE & KSA region.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet project deadlines.

Understand, implement and follow 9E QHSE policies.
Implement and coordinate QHSE procedures in your workplace.
Comply with local regulatory authority guidelines and laws pertaining to QHSE.
Report any QHSE incidents immediately to 9E QHSE Dept. and to legal authorities if required.
Abide Client/Contractor QHSE requirements and acquire site induction before mobilizing at sites.
